A timeline about the ways in which the continuum of crises since 2008 has impacted and
transformed the fields of housing provision and housing struggles in European cities.
The HousInC timeline brings together key moments in the housing histories of Athens, Barcelona and Glasgow, showing how struggles, policies and crises unfold and intersect over time. It traces when movements, organisations and networks emerged, highlights important mobilisations and events, and situates them alongside major policy reforms, legal changes and wider conjunctures such as the financial, refugee, pandemic and energy/cost-of-living crises. By viewing the three city timelines in parallel, visitors can explore both local specificities and shared patterns – seeing, for example, when similar kinds of struggles appear, how different welfare and housing regimes respond, and how claims to the right to housing are re-articulated across successive crises.
